The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's (EERE) relies on its Product Governance Team (PGT) to review and approve all publications, exhibits, logos, infographics and templates for EERE communications products from technology offices, staff, laboratories, and contractors.
EERE also maintains standards for any publications produced by the office or its tech offices. If your office follows all EERE publication standards, you do not need to seek PGT approval to publish.
PLEASE NOTE: All new logo, brand, and identifier requests will be denied until after the DOE brand redesign is launched. If you need an exception to this guidance, have the federal project lead contact Liz Penniman and the EERE Products and Branding Team.
Product Process and Approvals
The PGT does not review everyday graphic design work; if your designers use the new suite of EERE templates on DOE's intranet, your deliverables do not need PGT approval.
Additionally, if you follow all EERE communication standards and guidance, you do not need to seek PGT approval for product updates.
Communication leads or support staff should follow these steps if you think you may need PGT approval for your products:
- Submit products to the EERE Products and Branding Team, and cc the EERE Communications mailbox, providing any necessary background information and your deadline.
- You will receive a response within 48 hours, providing you with next steps, which may include:
- Approval to move forward with your project.
- Recommendation to arrange a meeting to review your product's audience, purpose, format, and reason for needing a deliverable outside the EERE templates.
- Elevation to the EERE communications director, Liz Penniman, for further review.
If you have questions about your project, need to download EERE templates, or need clarification on the PGT process, please contact the EERE Products and Branding Team.
