Project Objective
The project will use a unique technique of delignified wood to create a bio-derived nanocellulose material for advanced building insulation. The project team will develop a green thermal insulation material out of wood that is light, strong, super thermal insulating and extremely cost-effective. The material can also be added onto walls of existing buildings.
Project Impact
By using natural wood as the starting material, this technology will be a green, cost-effective, and scalable way to insulate. The developed material will be high-performing yet mechanically strong, as to be used as a load-bearing material, and will be suitable for energy-efficiency building retrofit applications.
